David Thompson

What classes do you currently teach at the Kroc Center?

RPM Express, RPM and CXWorx

How long have you taught Group Fitness?

5 years

What was your motivation to become a Group Fitness Instructor?

I enjoyed taking the classes and wanted to help others find the same joy I had found with the help of the instructors who had inspired me to keep going. I was very unhealthy when I joined the Kroc. I was being treated for high blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar. When I started doing the classes, I saw a rapid improvement in my health and can happily say I no longer have any of the three issues. It is great seeing others’ health improve when they come to my classes. I enjoy being a small part of their change.

What is your favorite part about teaching your classes?

The people in the class. They help me to stay motivated by sharing their triumphs along the way.

How do you stay active outside of your own classes?

I like to take other classes when I am able. I especially enjoy BodyPump and BodyCombat. (I need to enjoy them more often.)

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I like to cook, try new restaurants, spend time with friends and travel.

What advice do you give people who are joining your class for the first time?

I always tell them to remember it is their class and not mine. They are there to improve their health and meet their goals. I know it can be scary starting a new class but take your time and do as much as you are comfortable with this time and see if you can do a little more next time. I also like to remind everyone that it is okay to ask me questions about the class and I will be glad to spend a few minutes before or after class to help them out.

Youth Fitness Classes

MOVE is a 30 min. conditioning class designed not only to increase the heart rate of the children but to encourage activity at a young age. This class is designed to develop strength, cardio, and agility. Perfect for junior athletes between seasons, and the child that just wants to be more active. Let’s MOVE!

Reach is a 30 min. low intensity mixture of Yoga, Pilates and general stretching. This class is all about calming down. While teaching mobility and flexibility, this class also teaches breathing and stress coping techniques that will transfer over into everyday life. And this is the best age for a child to learn.
